What types of sessions do you offer?
Ten Little Bluebirds is family and newborn photography. Every session is a Premier Session Experience, which means professional makeup, a styled shoot, and a same day reveal where you see your photos and choose what you love.
Family Sessions are for the immediate family, and we are happy to bring in grandparents, siblings, and extended family too. Multi-generation sessions are some of our favorites.
Newborn Sessions are lifestyle sessions with a family focus. Parents, siblings, and even pets are welcome. These are the photos your baby will go back and look at over and over again.
Where do sessions take place?
You have three options.
Studio 25 Naperville. Our bright, natural light studio at 25 W. Jefferson, 2nd floor, with dedicated parking.
Studio 25 Chicago, Streeterville. Our newest studio on the 51st floor, with floor to ceiling windows and the city skyline behind you. Many of our families travel in for sessions, and this is the easiest way to do it.
On location. Your home, an orchard, the lakefront, a place that means something to your family. We can bring the lighting with us. We consider the ages of your family members, the light, and the season when we choose a spot. We love to travel too, and additional costs may apply depending on the location.
What does a session cost?
We believe you should know this before you call, so here it is.
The Creative Session Fee reserves your date and is the only decision you need to make to book.
Studio 25 Naperville: $600
Studio 25 Chicago or on location: $750
Weekend sessions: add $100
The session fee includes professional makeup for one person and your photo shoot. Additional makeup can be added for other family members, which makes for a fun getting ready party. It does not include photos.
Your artwork is chosen after the session, at your reveal, once you have seen the photos. There is no minimum. You simply purchase what you love.
Print Art Collections start at $990. Digital and Printed Art Collections start at $1,500. A la carte pricing starts at $650. Most of our families invest between $2,500 and $4,500 in albums, wall art, and digital files, and we offer financing options so you can bring home the pieces you want.
What is a reveal?
After every shoot we sit down together, ideally the same day, and you see your photos for the first time. We look at them large, on the wall and in album layouts, so you can picture them in your home. Then you choose what you want to purchase. Most people have no idea what they want until they see the photos, which is exactly why we do it this way.
We offer luxury lay flat albums, framed wall art, and digital downloads.
When is the best time to book?
Family Sessions. We recommend booking six to eight weeks ahead of the date you have in mind. That gives us time to plan the details so nothing feels rushed. If your timeline is shorter, get in touch anyway. We can sometimes accommodate last minute requests.
Newborn Sessions. The best time is entirely up to you. Two days old, two weeks, even two months, we believe beautiful photos can be captured at any point in this early stage. Book your session before the baby arrives, then reach out once you are home and ready, and we will get you scheduled.
How long does the experience last?
Family Sessions. About 45 minutes of makeup and one hour of shooting.
Newborn Sessions. About 45 minutes of makeup and up to two hours of shooting. We build in time for feeding, changing, and comforting so nobody feels rushed.
What should we wear?
We have you covered. Every session includes access to our online styling program, which builds color palettes and outfit guidance for one person or the whole family, using what is already in your closets or linking you to specific pieces to purchase.
For newborns, keep it simple. Plain onesies, swaddles, or just a diaper keep the focus on the baby. A special blanket, a baby gift, or a family heirloom adds a personal touch.
Can extended family join?
Yes. Family sessions typically focus on the immediate family, but we love extended family and multi-generation sessions. There is a $30 fee per additional person to cover the extra editing and organizing time.
Newborn sessions are very much family focused. Parents, siblings, and pets are all welcome.
How soon will we see our photos and receive our order?
We know how exciting it is, so we aim to hold your reveal within 1-2 weeks of your session depending on scheduling availability. You will see a gallery of lightly edited photos and choose what you want to purchase. We then do a deeper edit of everything in your order. Digital files are delivered within 24 hours of ordering, and albums and wall art typically arrive within six to eight weeks.
What are the studio hours?
Our office is open Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM. Sessions are by appointment and vary throughout the week.
